Stampin' Up Colorful Seasons - SBTD 9/2017
Hello, welcome to the second Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop!
Our theme this month is trees - I decided to use one of the most versatile bundles in the Annual Catalogue - Colorful Seasons. This particular bundle covers all four seasons and is excellent value for money with 24 stamps and 17 dies to choose from!
If you have a look at one of my posts from earlier this week you will see I got a little bit carried away making lots of lovely leaves.
I needed a card recently for two lovely people who have just bought the most amazing house so I thought I would use some of the leaves.
My card started with the sentiment - not how I usually start a card but this particular sentiment seemed so apt.
I embossed it with some Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder.
Then I started to think about how the leaves in my garden have started to fall and I had an idea!
Step 1
I die cut two leaves from the Whisper White card layer and adhered to my WW card base using some Foam Adhesive Strips.
Step 2
Step 3
I added another three leaves to the top of my panel, overlapping the apertures slightly to add depth and dimension.
Step 4
Again, I could have left the card at this point and I would have been happy with it but I decided it needed a little something extra.
I used another die from this bundle of a skeleton leaf and some of the gorgeous Copper Foil Sheets.
I pressed the leaves against the palm of my hand with my fingers to add some dimension.
Step 5
I placed the copper leaves at an angle so that you could still see the gorgeous colours on the leaves underneath. I used a mini glue dot behind the part of the leaf where the stalk joins - hopefully you can see the dimension and the shadows this helps to create?
I decorated the inside of the card with some leaves too (I made lots).
My card will have to go in the post as I am unable to hand deliver it so I added just one of the leaf on the back of the envelope, leaving the stalk unattached for ease of opening.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
As I mentioned above, this card is for two lovely people called Rod and Noreen. They have just moved into a former Lock Keepers cottage at Five Rise Locks in Bingley (West Yorkshire, UK). I used to visit the locks at Bingley when my children were younger, especially at this time of year when the leaves start to fall - you are never too old for a swish amongst the leaves! I hope they will be very, very happy in their new home.
I still had lots of leaves left so I decided to make use of them, come back soon to see what I made!
Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.
I hope you enjoyed this project - it was great fun to make my own pile of leaves even though I can't swish through them!
Next in the hop is Tricia who has a great project to share with you.
If you get lost along the way here is a list of participants in the hop.

Step 2
Using Tombow, I carefully placed the leaves through the aperture and adhered to the card base. If you stopped at this point you would have a really quick and simple card.
I added another three leaves to the top of my panel, overlapping the apertures slightly to add depth and dimension.
